Associate Professor of Education and Honorary Fellow, Institute of Education, University of London. Formerly Adviser on Race and Social Inclusion to British Home Secretary, Jack Straw, and to the British Cabinet.

• A committed educationalist and learning facilitator since 1965, with vast experience of developing and delivering education programmes, lecturing in education policy, inspecting schools and colleges, and of management at senior level in local government administration and in colleges and universities.
• Became the first African Director of Education and Leisure Services in Britain in 1989.
• Inspirational leader, executive coach and mentor, with international experience as a leadership and management consultant and public affairs commentator.
• Adviser on Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Investment programmes that could enable foreign inward investors to invest in local people and deliver training and capacity building, social, educational, health and community development programmes in tandem with wealth creation and the growth of new markets.
• Social analyst of distinction, with a solid track record in conducting social audits for public and corporate sector organizations and assisting them in managing change. Extensive experience of conducting social research and auditing and programme evaluation for central government, regional and local government and for schools, colleges, universities, health authorities, the Law Society, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Attorney General’s Office.
• Executive Coach to senior politicians, CEOs, civil servants and NGO personnel.

Involved since in advising member states in Africa and the Caribbean (Cameroon, Somaliland, Lagos Sate Government, Jamaica) in meeting the MDGs related to education and youth.

Your Organisation:Description and Services offered
a) Assisting Government to take active steps to answer the call of the 2007 World Development Report ‘to make its top priorities: education, healthcare and job training for the next generation in order to banish poverty and galvanize its economy’
b) Delivering Mediation, Conciliation and Peace Building programs in conflict areas, including conflicts between youth factions and ‘gangs’ and ‘cults’
c) Applying a model for working with young people involved in gang (and ‘cult’) activity and in gun and knife crime, including preventive work with primary school children
d) Developing youth employment and entrepreneuring programmes, linked to vocational training and life long learning
e) Work with local groups to explore existing vocational training provision and opportunities for expanding that provision to support the economy and extend the range of services available to the community (farming, plumbing, electrical engineering, IT services, motor mechanics, joinery, tie dyeing, shoemaking and cobbling, blacksmiths, printing, etc.)
f) Developing micro-finance programmes, especially for youth and women in village communities
g) Conducting scoping research for the governments of Cameroon, Somaliland and Jamaica
h) Advising the Somaliland Government on strategies for gaining international recognition of Somaliland as a sovereign, democratic and independent state and on creating a youth justice system
i) Advising the Jamaican government on the establishment of a nationwide Advisory and Inspection Service for schools
