Profile Information

Your Professional/Academic Profile
I am a creative, energetic, inspired and determined woman of Trini-Niger descent. I am a business woman, a writer and an development economist by training.

I am Author of a book "Spirited Women: Lessons in Living." Self-published 1997, reprinted 2005. Currently writing 2nd book to be published 2010.

I worked as an development economist for 6 years, firstly, three years in Namibia working for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, then a further 3 years working for a private consultancy firm based in the Docklands, but working on assignments in South Africa, Barbados, The Bahamas and Jamaica. I then worked for a couple of years as an independent consultant helping small start-up businesses, writing business plans, market research and business organisation planning.

By chance in 2002 came into contact with a fantastic natural body care product- Nubian Heritage form the USA and became determined to market it in the UK....so Nubian Natural was born.
Your Social Profile/ just more about who you are
Co-founded Nubian Natural Ltd in 2003. I am General Manager of our retail store in Brixton and ecommerce website. We specialise in offering diverse clientele the best in natural body and hair care products. We also have a network marketing arm of consultants who sell our products in most major cities in the UK. We offer training and support to our networkers throughout the year.

I am a community spirited person and have worked as a Saturday School teacher and coordinator in the 1990s.

I have been a member of the Natwest Board Bank scheme to place private sector managers on creative arts boards. In this capacity I served as a board member on Spread the Word 1999-2000.

I fundraise through our business to help raise money for charities such as the Sickle Cell Society, Black Women's Lupus group, Hearts to Africa and EAT. I would like to do more in the future as there are so many good charities and social groups in great need and doing a good job in difficult circumstances.

I am a public speaker having presented to large and small groups of people throughout my career. Sometimes in the past on technical issues as a development economist and more often as an inspirational speaker on issues of personal development and entrepreneurial success, talking about the lessons I have learnt on my journey as an author and business woman.

I have been featured in the Voice Newspaper, the South London Press and on Namibian Television shows.

Hi Olayinka,
BUC aims are to create a 'family' type environment where progressive positive likeminded people come together to connect, mingle, mix, network and inspire each other and the community to excel.
We like the 'personal touch' and although sometimes it can be a struggle to keep up, it feels absolutely fantastic when new enthusiastic people who want to make a difference and have an impact in the community join us, so once again welcome, and I do hope that you can make it down on the 8th, it would be great to meet you.
