A highly qualified, dedicated, successful and motivated Assistant Community Cohesion Director in a specialist sports college. She has had substantial experience leading in sports, e.g. Basketball and developing behavioural management and teaching strategies through sports in coordination, collaboration and liaison with external agencies both within and outside the UK. She has a real passion and commitment to the development of young people from diverse backgrounds through special sporting initiatives and innovative programmes that will engage and motivate them and produce positive outcomes in terms of their lives and future prospects. She believes that she has the necessary skills and expertise to make a real difference in leading initiatives and innovations in a range of Basketball Operations and developments to further her career as a specialist sports organiser in the strategic vision, leadership and direction of Basketball at a National and International level. Having had considerable experience in working in a variety of modern sport environments, she possesses the necessary skills, ambition, enthusiasm and energy to meet the challenges that London 2012 will undoubtedly present to deliver to World Class standards.

London Academy of Leaders In Training works and support 8-21year olds and their parents and carers. Increasingly we are reaching out to people at the younger end of the scale, helping them get back on track.

The Leaders In Training programme operates in several secondary schools across London and work with over 2000 young people across the UK. To date London Academy of Leaders In Training has helped over 5000 young people get their lives back on track.

All our programmes are facilitated by trained and CRB checked Advisers, Coaches , Mentors and Tutors. The approaches we use when delivering the programmes are varied and flexible. Young people take responsibility for their own learning and enjoy the benefit of working with others and Building relationships with others. But behind the variety of approaches we adopt, lies a rigorous programme. It focuses on personal, social, emotional aspects of learning, life skills and team building skills as well as developing competencies for enterprise, community cohesion, active citizenship, volunteering and employment.

London Academy of Leaders In Training is successful because of commitment of the many schools, centres and organisations that have already joined and worked with us. Their enthusiasm, together with the support of the London Academy of Leaders In Training, offers a real opportunity to hundreds and thousands of young people in the UK, USA, Ghana and St. Kitts.


London Academy of Leaders In Training works with schools including those facing the greatest challenges – where problems of behaviour, low levels of attainment and poor attendance are the most pressing issues. Our programmes reaches out to young people at risk of truancy, exclusion or educational under-achievement and help them to re-engage and motivate them to reconnect with education.

KEY CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS

•Successfully developed and delivered community cohesion and inclusive initiatives in sports to enhance the work of the Specialist Sports College.

•Appointed London Youth Games Team Manager for athletics, distance running and girls basketball

•The establishment of own Sports Development Academy as part of the Extended Specialists Sports College Programme in conjunction with the London Academy of Leaders in Training – of which she is Director and Co-founder - and the management of a team of 10 sports coaches from multi-sports disciplines.

•Worked with and developed strong relationships with a number of sporting organisations such as a the Football Association, Fast Track, Nike, England Basketball, British Basketball League, Basketball 24/7, The Arts Award, and Haringey Sports Development

•In collaboration with the above organisations played a lead role in the development and progression of the academic sporting objectives in the National Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4 for young people in a variety of educational institutions across London boroughs such as Camden, Islington, Haringey, Enfield and Barnet.

•Successful leadership and management in sporting initiatives and activities of children and young people between the ages of 14-17 including Year 9 girl’s football team, Year 8 and 9 and senior basketball teams.

• Developed the Sports Elite Programme for students at the St Thomas More Specialist Sports College.

•Winner of the Prestigious London Peace Award 2008 for “Outstanding Community Service”, including Sports and “Outstanding Youth Programme of the Year 2006” for Basketball.

•In the 2007 OFSTED report the St Thomas More Catholic Specialist Sports College was commended for ‘Excellent Good Practice’ in the development of the Specialist Sports college’s Behavioural Department from the planning stage to a fully functioning unit, using sporting activities including Basketball, Football and Athletics to enhance students physical, personal, social and emotional development.

•Successfully assisted the Director of Sports in planning and delivery of sports programmes during the academic year, holidays, weekends and evenings.

•Organised and ran a multi-sports programme for children and young people, which was highly praised by OFSTED, as part of the Local Authority’s Joint Area Inspection.

•Recruiting, coordinating and managing a pool of volunteers for major sporting and music events across London and training mentors for sporting programmes.
